Trokeo — Terms and Conditions

Last updated: June 2026.

Trokeo is a neutral connection platform that helps neighbours on the Costa del Sol find each other, message in their own language, and arrange services or item exchanges directly. These Terms govern your use of the Trokeo web app at trokeo.app and any related domains.

1. Who we are

Trokeo is operated by an SL incorporated in Spain (legal entity details available on request via the Help page). For the purposes of Spanish e-commerce law (LSSI-CE, Law 34/2002), Trokeo is an information-society service provider.

2. Neutral host

Trokeo provides discovery, messaging and tools. We are not a party to any agreement between users. We do not employ providers, do not endorse listings, and do not guarantee outcomes. See the platform disclaimer for the full neutral-host position.

3. Free launch trial

During the launch trial — the first three months from each user's sign-up — Trokeo is free. There are no subscription fees, no listing fees, no commissions, no payment processing, no escrow, and no money flows between users via the platform. Any payment between two users is arranged and settled directly between them, outside Trokeo. Pricing for the post-trial period will be announced with at least 30 days' notice and explicit re-acceptance where the law requires it.

4. Your account

You must be 18 or over to use Trokeo. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your credentials secure, and to be solely responsible for activity under your account. You may delete your account at any time from Settings; deletion anonymises your profile and removes your messages within 30 days, with minimum legally-required activity logs retained.

5. Your responsibilities as a user

6. Verification

Identity verification is optional but unlocks the Verified badge on your profile. Verification is performed by an external provider (Stripe Identity). Trokeo does not store the raw ID document; we receive a pass/fail token and a name match. The Verified badge confirms identity, notthe quality, reliability, skill or behaviour of the verified user.

7. Translation

Messages between users are automatically translated by DeepL into each user's preferred language. Translation may contain errors; tap any message to view the original. For high-stakes details (price, date, address) confirm in your own words.

8. Disputes between users

Users must try in good faith to resolve disagreements directly. Trokeo provides a Report button on every listing, message and profile. Reports are reviewed by a real person within one business day. Trokeo can suspend accounts that breach these Terms or the Community Rules but is not the arbiter of private contractual disputes. Consumer-protection rights under Spanish law (Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007) apply to your dealings with Trokeo as the platform operator; they do not transform Trokeo into a party to your dealings with other users.

9. Liability

Trokeo is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by Spanish law, Trokeo's liability for the free trial period is limited to direct damages caused by Trokeo's intentional misconduct or gross negligence and capped at the amount you have paid Trokeo, which during the free trial is zero. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Spanish law (including consumer rights and personal-injury liability).

10. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in-app and by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Spanish law. The courts of San Roque / Algeciras (Cádiz) have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. Consumers retain the right to bring proceedings in the courts of their domicile under EU consumer rules.

12. Contact

Contact the operator via the Help page. We aim to reply within one business day.

These Terms are written in plain language for transparency and are not legal advice. For your specific situation consult a Spanish technology / consumer-protection lawyer.
